Dodge Goes Wide With Its 2021 Models for a Colossal Traction Gain

When it's iconic muscle cars, Chrysler's Dodge is among the first ones that come to mind. The company recently announced that their 2021 models Dodge Challenger R/T Scat Pack Shaker and T/A 392 will come with a widebody kit option. The package will allow the installation of a wider set of tires which, in turn, provide better performance through better grip.

The R/T Scat Pack Shaker Widebody sports a Shaker hood, which is made by the long time legend MOPAR. The Shaker hood runs above the engine compartment, redirecting cool air into the monster 392 HEMI V8 engine that lies beneath it. Challenger T/A Widebody has a satin black hood, deck lid, and a satin black wrap roof.

The Challenger T/A model also has Air Catcher headlamps with LED-illuminated T/A logos on it. The Challenger R/T Scat Pack Shaker Widebody comes with a price tag of 47,690 USD at its base model, the Challenger T/A 392 Widebody begins at 49,090 USD. These manufacturer's suggested retail prices do not include the delivery to destination charges, which is 1495 USD.

Opting for the Scat Pack Widebody extends the overall width by 3.5 inches (8.9 cm) with added in Pirelli 305/35ZR20 tires, which are 20x11. For a more old-school look, buyers of T/A 392 can opt in to have factory hood pins installed. The vehicle also sports upholstered performance seats with that signature Houndstooth cloth inserts.

For an even more retro look, the car also has a "tic-tac-tach" gauge set with Bright White concave faces and Gloss Black details right out of 1971. Dodge will begin taking preorders later on this year and the first dealership deliveries are scheduled for the next spring.

Dodge claims that the Scat Pack Widebody kits saw an improvement of 2 seconds per lap (without specifying which track or how long, mind you) when compared to regular Scat Pack.
