Ford Mustang Cobra Jet 1400Ford
Ford's long tradition of drag racing Mustangs continues to shine on as the carmaker unveiled an electric prototype: the Mustang Cobra Jet 1400.
Not yet available to customers, the Cobra Jet can deliver 1,400 horsepower and 1,100 ft-lbs of torque. Moreover, it's the first factory-built prototype complete with an all-electric powertrain for Ford.

Taking the wraps off its Mustang prototype, Ford's Cobra Jet 1400 is said to reach the quarter-mile in just eight seconds. This one-off performance vehicle doesn't have much information to share yet but it's sounding great already.
As per Ford's press release:
"The battery-powered Mustang Cobra Jet 1400 prototype is purpose-built and projected to deliver over 1,400 horsepower and over 1,100 ft.-lbs. of instant torque to demonstrate the capabilities of an electric powertrain in one of the most demanding race environments."
The hope is that the electric performance vehicle will be in drag racing events in the near future — would it be too hopeful to say by the end of this year? But, more will be shared about the vehicle when it does come out for one and all to see and experience.
In the meantime, here's a little teaser to keep you on the edge of your seat as you wait for more information regarding the Mustang Cobra Jet 1400:
